Argiope Aurantia

Finished! This is a painting on a thin sheet of bleached cardboard, 7.5x10 inches, with acrylic paints in four layers. The subject is a big, beautiful spider--Argiope Aurantia (thankee ) sometimes locally known in Florida as a banana spider. This is also my first bona-fide realistic study using acrylic paints, which makes me quite proud and hopeful that I can try something more detailed and larger in the future, like pet portraits.
