At-Home Falafel Burgers

Hello! After much trial, I’ve come up with another lovely recipe for you guys to try at home. This one is vegan! Some of my favorite foods are vegan and vegetarian home-cooking that is just savory and delicious by virtue of the great ingredients.

Speaking of ingredients—here is a list of all the foods and equipment you will need!

Ingredients:
-2 cups of chickpeas, already cooked (or an 8 oz. can of chickpeas)
-1/2 large red bell pepper OR one whole small red bell pepper
-1 cup of water
-1 cup of plain breadcrumbs/panko
-1 whole segment of garlic
-1 tablespoon parsley
-1 tablespoon paprika
-1 teaspoon basil
-1 teaspoon kosher salt or sea salt
-2 tablespoons of your favorite cooking oil
-Whatever delightful breads and condiments you like (I recommend red onion, tomato, some arugula greens~)

Equipment:
-Large cast iron or non-stick skillet
-Blender
-Spatula
-Big ole Spoon

How Do:
First, take your chickpeas (if canned, drain off that fluid especially if it’s sweetened), your red pepper, garlic and your spices and put them in your blender. Pulse the mixture, slowly adding your water until you’ve got an end result of a thick pulp (it should be more solid than pancake batter, but not as solid as cookie dough).

Next, thoroughly mix in your cup of breadcrumbs to thicken and bind the pulp. It should now be thick enough to scoop easily in lumps with your spoon.

Now fill the bottom of your skillet with your cooking oil of choice and heat it to a good frying temperature (water drops should sizzle on contact with it). Scoop the chickpea mixture into your skillet and form it into rounded patties. Allow the patties to fry for about eight minutes on each side or until they are a golden-brown color.

Once fried up, scoop the patties onto a plate, dab with a paper towel to absorb extra oils, and prepare with your bread of choice and condiments. Lastly, scarf up your falafel burgers. ^w^

^w^ Feel free to try it out yourself! XD It's what I made for dinner today--the lil burgers pictured above! Sadly I had no arugula but red onion and tomato on it is lovely. :la:

Ooh, you made your own version of these! I remember the ones at the Palms were really good -- maybe we can make something like these the next time I come visit.
