I've decided to enter the big leagues and make an entry for the DA "Make Ugly" Contest... which is creating a frightening monster work summing up an ugly truth about the big tobacco industry. To be perfectly honest, big industry in itself is pretty toxic, but when finding the villains in business it helps to look first to those hawking poisonous products. Especially manipulative hawking designed to get kids and teenagers involved with false claims of safety and "coolness", either direct or implied. And they know what they're doing. They've got top admen trained in deceiving the human mind working for them. Like in all big industry, there is some serious UGLY potential there.
So this is my first step of the entry. I've decided to do a mixed media piece, half graphite pencil and half watercolor paints. This is the first graphite step which I've finished a day or so ago. I
watercolor paper for the 3B dark bits... So easy to make deep shadows and grody wrinkles around the mouth and eyes! In a bit I'll start the watercolor portion. You should all be seeing the second step WIP uploaded in about a week's time (I AM WORKING SO HARD ON THIS--THIS IS SERIOUS GUYZ!!!!
Wish me luck! I know I wish luck to all the other entrants!
