N for Nanuqsaurus

Description

I had to do one of these as a tyrannosaur. :D So here is a recently-discovered tyrannosaur from Alaska, Nanuqsaurus, which was about one third the size of a Tyrannosaurus and had a much much thicker feathery body covering. Alaska would have had similar polar seasons as it does today, making Nanuqsaurus here need lots of insulation and cold-weather survival skills. Smaller size meant it needed far fewer calories so that they could conserve their energy. Far fewer large dinosaurs have been found that far north, so it was likely that food sources were much scarcer and Nanuqs would have been nomadic and opportunistic, with set seasonal hunting strategies--like polar bears today.

And since I needed a bit of watercolor practice, this is a little 5x7 watercolor. :D Big Nanuq traveling along pauses to watch an arctic Troodon scamper by.
